Detroit Diesel Corporation and MTU Friedrichshaven have unveiled the products produced by their two year joint venture to develop and market a line of distinctive new engines, the DDC/MTU Series 2000 and the MTU/DDC Series 4000. The Series 2000 is a two liter per cylinder engine, available in 12, and 16 cylinder models. The Series 2000 utilizes electronically controlled unit pumps and features standard Detroit Diesel Electronic Controls. The Series 4000 is a four liter per cylinder engine, available in 12 and 16 cylinder configurations. It incorporates a common rail fuel injection system, which feeds fuel at full pressure to rails along the length of the engine and delivers fuel to the unit injector nozzles at each cylinder. The Series 4000 features Diesel Electronic Controls. Both engines use four valve, individual cylinder heads. These rugged engines are used in our generator sets from 650 to 2000kW.
